这是本地第一代移民的一处古屋，200年以来ROUSE家族一共六七代人在这里居住，所以是一处有代表意义的澳洲文化遗存。参观这样一处地方可以了解移民如何持家、建立新省、乃至立国这样的历程。去年全年游客总数约2000人，免费开放的这几个周末，个个周末都达到或超出1000人流量，太火爆了。刚过去的这个星期天一共820多人参观。那个小学校教缝纫的材料早都用光了。这能说明什么？这个世界还是穷人多？要知道平时他们一天的参观者也就是不超出20人的样子。当然平时的讲解会很认真，参观一回需要45分钟，这样的公共开放日讲解就很简单，开放的范围也有限。他们指望着回头客花钱再去细看呢。的确不少人去了第二次。
不过中国人去看的不多，每回也就五六个中国人吧，不会超出1%。可能是因为知道的人少，也可能是因为对这些本地的历史遗存不感兴趣。其实带小孩在那里放放风筝吃个野餐也挺不错的。或者在那个八角亭那里穿上百十年前英式的传统服装来照相，效果也是很不错的。bonnet/boater是软帽和硬草帽。

这一处古居是悉尼十二处古建筑博物馆里的一个，也是少有的一处由一个家族连续不断长期营的农庄式博物馆。纽省历史建筑信托基金(Historic Houses Trust of NSW) 在今年四月更名为Sydney Living Museums，我看有译“悉尼生活博物馆”。悉尼的这些博物馆包括：
