Epping to Parramatta Rail Link to go ahead

PLANS to build the long-awaited Epping to Parramatta Rail Link will be outlined by Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Premier Kristina Keneally today.

It is understood Ms Gillard will pledge $2.1 billion in federal funds.

Ms Keneally will contribute a further $520 million.

The $2.6 billion railway line would be scheduled to be completed by 2017.

A new tunnel would be built between Epping and Carlingford, under the plan.
