Network Inventory and GIS Software Specialist

Nextgen Networks is a specialist provider of high performance data services.  We owns and operate Australia's third largest fibre network and our customers are Carriers, Corporations and Government.  We are an Australian Telecommunications Carrier and a wholly owned subsidiary of Leighton Holdings.

Continuous upgrades of our systems and services has created an opportunity for a self managed IT&T professional to provide expertise and support for the database systems that track our assets.  These systems use GIS, GPS and Mapping technologies and is performed using MapInfo and ConnectMaster.

The position will be responsible to:

•  Promote our Company Values including driving the culture of “Safety and Health above all else”

•  Act as SME for network inventory and GIS applications

•  Model and document ConnectMaster components

•  Test, integrate and roll out software releases

•  Liaise with Software vendors to incorporate upgrades, new releases, etc.

•  Liaise with internal users on functionality, training, process change and project status

•  Ensure new technologies are supported by software plans and models

•  Develop software tools to import data from a variety of sources.

It is envisaged the successful applicant will hold a Bachelor of Engineering, Computer Science or Telecommunications and has achieved 3-5 years experience in a similar role using your knowledge of telecommunications network components and technologies in addition to your GIS knowledge.

An solid understanding many of the following technologies is required:

PON, Ethernet, IP/MPLS, SDH/EoSDH/DWDM transmission technology

Applications such as Cramer, PNI, Granite Inventory, AMDOCS, GE Smallworld & SQL, SQL databases, XML etc.

Applicants will also manage software roll-outs and software lifecycle processes.  This position will be based in the Collins street offices of Visionstream (Melbourne).
