2 Every year some languages die out. Some people argue this is not important because our lives are made easier by this change. To what extent do you agree or disagree?


In the past decades, with the growth of modern communication and the development of air transportation, a single international language has been used to cover the whole world. Thanks to this universal language, people from different countries with different mother languages can understand each other easily. However, this trend may result in some languages go extinct from the world.

There are several reasons to believe that a single international language has made our lives more convenient and easier. Firstly, the trade has become increasingly international, involving partners who have mutually incomprehensible mother tongues. A global language can greatly boost the efficiency of business transaction. Secondly, there has been a proliferation of international organization. So a universal language is indispensable in international affairs, which can strengthen cooperation between different countries. Thirdly but not lastly, in this information age, science and technology are developing in a staggering rate. A universal language can actually promote the dissemination of knowledge.

Though international language has done so much good to individuals and society, the negative of it can never be ignored. One of the biggest problems is the extinction of some languages. As one of the most important parts of culture, language both expresses and embodies cultural reality. On the other hand, language, as a product of culture, helps spread the culture. It means that with the widely use of a international language, some lesser-known languages will gradually become extinct. Accordingly, cultures it representing will also disappear from the global permanently.

All in all, people should face the problems of a single language brings us while enjoying the convenience and benefits of it, and measures should be taken to alleviate this situation. In this way, our cultural identity and diversity can keep on development.

辛苦我了，主要是鼠标坏了还坚持泡论坛，要克服很大的困难。
我建议楼主，真的是诚心的建议，对待这种涉及人文学科的话题，讨论面尽量要广，哪怕不深。为什么呢？题目就显而易见，题眼在important上，这是个很虚的词，也是很大的词，但是它符合话题的特点。在剑桥参考书里，出现过好几篇专门讨论语言的学术性文章，因此再建议楼主把那几篇看透，掌握主要的讨论点和范围。
