Mt. Emei (峨嵋山) is located in Leshan City, Sichuan Province. It is towering, beautiful, old and mysterious. Mt. Emei is like a huge green screen standing in the south west of the Chengdu Plain. Looking its winding and beautiful figure, you will find that it resembles very much an eyebrow of a girl. It is the highest one among all the famous sight-seeing mountains in China.

In Mt. Emei there are four scenic regions: Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, Qingyin Pavilion and Golden Summit. Its main peak, the Golden Summit,is 3079.3 meters (10,103 feet) above the sea level, seemingly reaching the sky. Standing on the top of it, you can enjoy the snowy mountainsin the west and the vast plain in the east. In addition in Golden Summit there are four spectacles: clouds sea, sunrise, Buddha rays and saint lamps. In 1996 Mt. Emei was enlisted in the world natural and cultural heritage by the UNESCO.

Mt. Emei is a wondrous world. The trees are verdant almost all the year round; the waterfalls are splendid; the whole scenery is beautiful andquiet. The landscape varies according to the seasons, the height ofmountain and the climate. The poet Tan Zhongyue living in the QingDynasty (1644-1911) once concluded the beautiful landscape in Emei Mountain into ten scenic sights. Today more and more new scenery hasbeen discovered and given beautiful names such as Listen to the Spring beside the Tiger Brook, Plank Road above Longjiang River and Flying Waterfall Hanging over Dragon Gate. Go there and use your imagination,maybe you will discover a new sight by yourself.

Mt. Emei has along history. According to the archaeological material, people inremote ancient times have lived in this place. As early as 5,000 yearsago, the Emperor Xuanyuan paid two visits to the mountain to learn Taothoughts. 1,900 years ago, a practitioner built the first monastery inthe mountain, thus marked the Emei the birthplace of Buddhism in Yangtze Valley. Today the Buddhist culture has become the main body of Emei Culture. The Buddhist architecture, music, grottos and paintingsin the mountain all reflect rich religious flavor and culture.

I am going to hiking at this Mouintain on May 20, 2010.

This track is about 28 KM, but over 3000 meters ascent, which will take 8 hours for fit person.

Starting at Baoguo Village to Qingyin Pavilion and then

Qingyin Pavvlion to
Wannian Monastery (1020m, 3km, 45-60mn), to
Xixiang Pond (2070m, 14km, 3-5hrs), to
Jieyin Hall (2540m, 9km, 2-3hrs) and to
Golden Summit (3077m, 2 km, 45-60mn).

I am searching the path climbinbg to the Jinding Peak (from Baoguo Temple), and found someone finish in one day, but it looks like very hard job.

Any suggeston is very welcome.

早上7点半出发，坐车至五显岗，8点钟开始爬山。挑战路线：五显岗—清音阁—生态猴区—洪椿坪—九十九道拐—九老洞—仙峰寺—九岭岗—洗象池—雷洞坪—金顶。全程约50公里。中午12半到达仙峰寺，午饭休息用时一小时。晚上6点半到达雷洞坪，吃饭休整1个半小时。8点一刻开始夜行进军金顶。到达金顶是9点三刻。除去吃饭休息用时，爬山全程用时大约11个小时!就此终于完成此次伟大挑战，哦耶

徒步峨眉山金顶之行，牛人纯爬全攻略

去年四五月份几个好友约着一起去了趟峨眉山，体验了一把爬山的的艰辛和乐趣。经历了漫长的爬山过程终于攀上了金顶，体验了把一览众山小的惊叹：峨眉天下秀，果然名不虚传，第一次感受了早晨8点爬峨眉山的两个季节，刚到那里是冬天，接近中午是夏天，完全两种不同的季节景色，真的很美！不过爬山上去确实很锻炼人。。。需要有非常强悍的体力要求，如果你有足够的信心和毅力也来尝试一下吧。当登上金顶的时候就觉得一切都是值得滴。我来把行程跟大伙分享分享，以感谢多年来论坛里朋友们辛勤的负出。
当天傍晚到达山下，找了个旅社休息一晚，养好精力，准备第二天一早开始上山。
第二天一早8点，开始登山，之前看了不少攻略都说峨嵋山大多数的景点都在左线一线，也就是报国寺—清音阁—仙峰寺—遇仙寺—洗象阁—雷洞坪一线，而且我自认为爬了那么多高山体力还可以，所以我也就选择了这条线路开始爬。
报国寺-雷音寺-纯阳殿：这一段的路程基本上都是平路和缓坡，对体力的要求不是很高，中途有一处关卡，需要在那里买进山门票，我们买的学生门票50块。需要说明的是报国寺到雷音寺路程不长，与地图上标注的位置基本一致，但是雷音寺到纯阳殿从地图上没多远，但是却走了很长时间，最后走得我都有点不耐烦了，而就在这时一座大殿就矗立在眼前，定睛一看，额上书三个大字“纯阳殿”。
纯阳殿—神水阁—中峰寺—广福寺—清音阁：这一段路也基本是平路和缓坡，对体力要求不高，走起来也比较轻爽。清音阁是一处比较主要的景点，好像叫“双桥清音”。顺便说一下，从清音阁下山就是五显岗停车场，如果想从清音阁而不是报国寺开始爬上的话，可以选择从报国寺坐车到五显岗，直接爬到清音阁，然后再继续往上爬，这样会比我这样从报国寺开始爬节省些体力。
过了清音阁选择左线过一线天到达猴区，这里的猴子较山上多，我们聊着它们玩了半天，后来两只大猴子扒着我大腿不让我走，丢给了它们一些面包屑，我这才得以逃脱。
过了猴区就是一段对体力有些挑战的路程了，这一段路比较陡，而且是漫长的坡道，幸好现在是淡季人不多，要是人多的话就比较难爬了，我们大概于中午12点到达洪椿坪。
洪椿坪—仙峰寺：我认为这一段路是此次行程中最为艰难的一段路，因为途经九十九道拐这一连续爬坡的山路。九十九道拐是由一段接一段的栈道构成，每条栈道基本都是成60-70度的陡坡，从下往上看去漫长无边，好不容易走到头了，再一转身又是一条同样长同样陡的栈道，就这样不知道反反复复了多少次，其间也经历了多次的体力透支，基本上就是走十步歇几分钟，再走一段再歇一会儿，所以这一段的用时也最长，3个半小时。
仙峰寺—遇仙寺—九岭岗：这一段路程在地图上看还是一段缓坡，但是实际却有着很多的上坡路，而且都是比较陡的，再加之刚才一段路已经耗费了大量的体力，所以这一段路走得相当艰苦，几近虚脱。最后把我们所剩的最后一点巧克力吃了，才算补充了些热量和体力爬到了九岭岗。
九岭岗—洗象池：九岭岗是通往洗象池和华严顶两条路的交汇点，在这里要特别注意一下走哪条路，我就差点走错了，要不是路上碰见了几个人说我方向走反了，我就真跑到华严顶上去了。九岭岗到洗象池一线途经钻天坡，光听名字就能想到有多难走了，反正最后我是赶在天黑透前赶到了洗象池住宿的。晚上热水泡了泡脚，真是舒服啊！白天累了，晚上大家呼呼的就睡着了。
第二天从洗象阁—接引殿：这一段路先是两段艰难的上坡，然后就是平路和缓坡了。总体来说对体力还是有一定要求的，不过毕竟早上吃了些暖胃的东西，所以走起来还算可以。当然也要咬牙坚持。当到了雷洞坪以后我甚至觉得比我到了金顶还要高兴呢。
到了接引殿以后就可以坐缆车前往金顶了，因为我们实在没有时间和体力走着去金顶了（据说还要再爬3个小时），所以，选择了缆车的往返（上行65，下行55，不卖联票）。坐上缆车后就感觉我们被推升着穿过云层。突然一道霞光射入车厢引得一车厢的人兴奋不已，金顶之上风和日丽，金顶的三面金佛在日光的照耀下熠熠生辉！
金顶的风光：十方普贤的金身像、云海、舍身崖。据说普贤的那些头是用几百公斤黄金度造而成，金光灿灿的，雕塑人物圆润细腻，相当漂亮。在金顶才真正感受到佛教的神圣，虔诚的信徒都是一步一叩首的参拜着普贤菩萨。身处金顶，那简直感觉就是在另外一个世界，宁静、神圣、美丽。。。

峨眉都是石阶路吧，最伤膝盖了。

bushwalker到了四川还回得来么？那么多地方可以trekking，一不小心就跑到西藏青海去了

峨眉的清晨真的很美，可惜我上次去没有足够的时间，特别遗憾，坐了缆车到了金顶，去了清音阁就走了

Finally back to city, Chengdu.

It was so great to walk at Mount Emei and other mountains in Sichuan, China.

For the Mount Emei, it only took 4.5 hours (half day) for the first 22 KM with over 1000 meters ascent, and another 7.5 hours (whole day) for the remaining 32 KM with over 2000 meters.

LZ看来用了12小时,上升3000米,走了54公里.佩服佩服.不知负重多少?

Finally back Sydney already.

负重 14 KG includiing 4 L water daily, daily gears, PLB, walkie talkie etc.

It took me 12 hours (one and half days) to complete hiking at 峨眉山 with 负重 14 KG.

Day one afternoon (from 3:00 PM), from 黄湾charge station - 报国寺 - 里音寺 - 纯阳殿 - 清音阁 - 猴区 - 清音阁 - 万年寺 - Xiaoping route - 万年寺 parking station (finishing at 7:30 PM, 22 KM with over 1000 meters 上升)

Day two (from 8:00 AM), from 万年寺 parking station - Xiaoping route - 万年寺 - 长老坪 - 华严顶 - 洗象池 - 雷洞坪 - 接引殿 - 金顶 (finishing at 15:30 PM, 32 KM with over 2000 meters 上升).
