Longan Farm informationOpening times
We are open only on the weekends from 9.00am-3.00pmon specific days (ie not every weekend). We advertise each week the days that we are open in the QueenslandAsian Business Weekly (Friday).
How it works
The Longan Farm is a family farm.
We open to the public so that you can come and pickthe longans from the tree yourself.Alltrees are small so you can pick fruit from the ground – no ladders.
We weigh the fruit that you pick and then charge youbased on a set price per kilogram of fruit picked.
Current Price
February 2011
Longans are $8 per kilogram and we only have cashfacilities, no cards.
There is no entry fee to the farm.
Varieties
Longan varieties are Kohalaand Haew (How)/Chompoo.
Mango variety is Honey Gold (only available duringFebruary/March.
What to bring
Hat, sunscreen, suitable shoes for walking in apaddock, insect repellant,
Secateurs (like the ones you prune rose bushes with)– if you don’t have any, we can provide them. We take a $10 holding deposit that we refund when you return thesecateurs. (Sometimes when we are really busy we run out).
Bags or containers for the fruit – we can provideplastic bags (free of charge)
Drinks
Bottled water is for sale
Picnic
We have a grassy areas where you are welcome to havepicnics– bring chairs/blanket to sit on
How to get there
The directions are in the newspaper ad.Don’t use GPS navigation systems (they getpeople lost).We can also email a mudmap and directions .
Bus bookings
We do take special bookings for buses during theweek
Subject to availability of fruit and staff.
