我一堂弟最近结婚，去参加婚礼时了解到他不想再会澳洲了，他妈妈不想他放弃PR就问我关于PR年限的事，我就去移民局网站查了一下，大家看看我的理解对不？

175（885）How this visa work
This is a permanent residence visa. As a permanent resident you are permitted to remain in Australia indefinitely. This visa also allows you to travel to and enter Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted. The expiry of this visa does not affect your permanent resident status if you are in Australia. However, if you wish to continue to travel to and from Australia as a permanent resident after the initial visa has expired, you must obtain a Resident Return Visa (RRV). Your eligibility for an RRV will depend on the period that you have resided in Australia.

显然，PR身份不会变，但是如果想进出澳洲就需要PRV的visa。简单说，如果175有效期内人飞到澳洲，还是可以以PR身份一直呆在澳洲，只是不能离开了。如果想离开或者175过期了，人又不在澳洲，则需要申请PRV。

155 PRV Eligibility （合格条件）
To be eligible for a five year Resident Return visa you must be one of the following:

an Australian permanent resident
a former Australian permanent resident whose last permanent visa was not cancelled
a former Australian Citizen who lost or renounced their citizenship.

符合3个条件之一，PR签证过期，并不改变PR的身份，所以第一条就可以。

Residence requirement        You must have spent two of the last five years in Australia as a permanent resident.
in Australia: Substantial ties and compelling reasons
outside Australia: Substantial ties and compelling reasons
Member of a family unit        You are the immediate family member of a Resident Return Visa holder.
第一条：住满2年。也就是说即使签证过期，只要住满两年，还是可以PRV
第二/三条：提供说明
第四条：家庭成员是PRV的拥有者

注意，这四条是只要一条就行。

实在不行还有3个月的PRV可以申请，也就是要提出合理的理由要离开澳洲

大概是visa过期前回来再住满2年就可以申请下一个5年了吧

是的，PR身份是不会过期的，但是如果过期后在国外，需要申请PRV才能回来，因为原来的签证过期了

夫妻两个人同时拿到的pr，如果配偶续签了rrv, 本人在国内而且pr已经过期，在过去的5年内也没有驻满两年，能否可以在过期后在国内申请到5年的rrv？理由是配偶是rrv？如果不能，那探亲时该办什么签证？如果申请旅游签证那岂不是pr就作废了，是否重新申请配偶的移民签证？问题比较复杂，谢谢那位高手解答一下？

如果配偶续签了RRV，那另外一方应该很有机会续签RRV，这是一个非常有利的理由，具体也要看移民局的决定。
