关于明年实施的ANZSCO职业分类清单

MIA与DIAC上周六在堪培拉举行了一个听证会,讨论即将于明年实施的新的职业分类清单ANZSCO,新的清单将采用和旧的ASCO不同的方法,详细内容如下:

MIA members attended a joint presentation by the ABS and DIAC in Canberra last week to hear about changes between ANZSCO and its predecessor the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO).

Andrew Woolley, Assistant Director of ANZSCO Development (Standards & Classifications) at ABS, spoke about ANZCO’s development and how it differs from ASCO. Simon Strasiotto, A/g Director of the Migration Project Support Section of DIAC spoke about the implementation of ANZSCO within DIAC.

Attendees heard that ANZSCO’s major groups are based on skill level and skill specialisation. Occupations at the same skill level are scattered across the ANZSCO major group structure. There are new and merged occupations, including an expanded range of ICT, health, agricultural, sport and recreation occupations.

Unlike ASCO, ANZSCO will not have tasks or duties defined for each occupation. Instead DIAC is developing guidelines for case officers for the use of ANZSCO in assessing visa applications. DIAC agreed that these guidelines, the “dictionary” of duties for each occupation and an explanation of the relationship between “old” and “new” occupations, should be made available to migration consultants.
DIAC is likely to implement ANZSCO by February or March 2010. Before that time, there will need to be new occupation lists drawn up and transition arrangements finalised. There are implications for assessing authorities to be confirmed.

The Institute will let members know further information as it becomes available.
