Assessment Information
If you are planning to migrate to Australia as a skilled migrant you will need to have your qualifications and skills assessed as part of your visa application.
The Australian Government's Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) is ultimately responsible for consideration of your visa application. You are required, however, to have your skills assessed by a designated assessing authority before lodging your application.
DIAC has commissioned assessment authorities for your occupation to assist you in this process.
Working as a skilled migrant in Australia requires evidence of an appropriate level of skills and practical experience. The following provides information to help you have your skills and qualifications assessed for migration.
Read DIAC Booklet 6 General Skilled Migration
It is essential that you read DIAC Booklet 6 General Skilled Migration as it will help you understand the steps involved in applying for your visa. This booklet is also available in hardcopy from Australian embassies and consulates. It contains information on basic requirements for migration and processing visa applications as well as a points test and self assessment.
Each occupation listed either on the Skilled - Sponsored or the Skilled - Regional Sponsored Eligibility Lists has a detailed Assessment Information Sheet below to help guide you through the pre-migration assessment process required by DIAC.
