RMIT teachers receive top awards <br>

RMIT celebrated the outstanding contributions of its teaching staff at the university’s 2003 Teaching Awards today. <br>
<br>

RMIT Vice-Chancellor, Dr Ruth Dunkin, congratulated the staff when she presented the awards in the categories of Student Centred Teaching, Scholarship of Teaching, Research Supervision and Institutional Infrastructure Support. <br>
<br>
<br>
“RMIT’s development and success is founded on the capabilities and commitment of its staff,” Dr Dunkin said. <br>
<br>
<br>
“These awards recognise, reward and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our staff in teaching, research supervision and support that enhances teaching and learning at RMIT.” <br>
<br>
<br>
The recipients of this year’s Student Centred Teaching awards, which focus on classroom teaching, for Higher Education, were: <br>
<br>
· Josephine Lang – School and Early Childhood Education; <br>
<br>
· Brian Leonard – Department of Biotechnology and Environmental Biology; <br>
<br>
· Kim Leong – School of Social Science and Planning. <br>
<br>
<br>
Recipients of the Student Centred Teaching awards for TAFE were: <br>
<br>
· Dinah Barton – Department of the Built Environment; <br>
<br>
· Grant Emerson and team – School of Fashion and Textiles (Team members: Anna Cavaleri, Cathy Chen, Russell Edis, Hector Gauci, Loraine Grant, Barbara Kuczuk, Yuping Li, Angelo Pantalone, Nardia Robertson, Ben Stranieri); <br>
<br>
· Barbara Morgan and Meaghan Botterill – Department of Access and Preparatory Studies. <br>
<br>
<br>
Elizabeth Creese of the School of Management (Higher Education) received the Scholarship for Teaching award. <br>
<br>
<br>
The Research Supervision award went to Mike Brown and the team from the Department of Industry, Professional and Adult Education (Team members: Robert Bain, David Hodges, Veronica Luk, Heather Meyer, Laurene Vaughan, William Vistarini). <br>

<br>
This year’s recipients of Certificates of Achievements in Student Centred Teaching (Higher Education) were: <br>
<br>
· Prue Bramwell – Department of Biotechnology and Environmental Biology; <br>
<br>
· Phillip Ebrall – Department of Complementary Medicine; <br>
<br>
· Jim Lewis – School of Management (Higher Education); <br>
<br>
· Barry Meehan – Department of Applied Chemistry; <br>
<br>
· Ian Thomas – School of Social Science and Planning; <br>
<br>
· Rob Watts – School of Social Science and Planning. <br>
<br>
<br>
Staff who received Certificates of Achievements in Student Centred Teaching (TAFE) were: <br>

· Frank Farfalla – School of Business Information Technology (VET); <br>
<br>
· Bev Kennedy – School of Management (VET); <br>
<br>
· Andrea McAdam – Department of Health and Biosciences; <br>
<br>
· Rodney Noble – School of Business Information Technology (VET). <br>
