As reading is important for a good education, we should encourage our children to read whatever appeals to them.


Reading, undoubtedly, plays a key role children’s education, which is the most fundamental and effective way kids explore the world that is practically brand new to them. That is why some people claim that young generation should be encouraged to read all books that attract them. But whether providing them all kinds of books without filtering by adults would do harm to children remains to be seen.

Some people are concerned about the value of the books on which their kids spend precious time. It is natural because the magnitude of books is far beyond the number a child is able to go through before he or she grows up. As parents, they are absolutely hoping that a child’s reading time would be utilized on appropriate content that is most beneficial to him or her. Without proper guidance, children’s reading is likely to be aimless and lack of protection. To make matters worse, they are even under a risk of accessing some controversial books that could confuse the kids and do harm to them, which would be definitely the last thing parents want to discover.

Some people may argue the worries above are not necessary, as children should be granted the opportunity of seeing both right and wrong from the books they read. Parents are accountable to demonstrate their kids what the true society really looks like, so the kids can get themselves well prepared when facing the ugly side of the world. And, if the type of books a child can access is restricted manually, the young individual may fail to find out what he or she really adores.

In my opinion, it is evidently vital to let young people read a diversity of books. By enjoying varied content, they are given a chance to draw a big picture of the nature and society. However, adults’ guidance should not be neglected before children are capable of distinguishing right from wrong and understanding what their interest is.
