1 Today, people in many countries can live and work anywhere they choose, because of improved communication technology and transport. Do the advantages of this phenomenon outweigh its disadvantages?

4月21号考试，现在练作文都很难在短时间内写出来。这篇文章一开始写得有点偏题了，后来自己慢慢修改了，还感觉论据啥的不够到位，求点评

Modern technology is advancing at a staggering speed in present-day society and has greatly transformed people's life on a daily basis.  One of the most significant features is that people can live and work anywhere they like. Personally, I believe that the merits of such change outweigh its demerits.

Admittedly, there are some drawbacks that the technologies bring out. First, people become increasingly dependent on telecommunication rather than face-to-face communication. From telephone to email to social websites, people are tend to contact friends by phone call or text messages instead of chatting in person. Therefore, the society became more and more alienated. Secondly, the convenient transport generate a host of exhaust gas which is major reason of air pollution. In addition, since people apply more vehicles, they get fewer calorie burned which also drive the obesity rate increased.

Nevertheless, the benefits brought by communication technology and transport are overwhelming. People may get alienated by telecommunication, however, they can be easily reached as well. More importantly, the improved communication technology boosts soical productivity and promotes the growth of economy. People could get in touch with others efficiently and instantly which benefits both corporations and individuals. For example, it enables employees of multinational company to contact with each other freely regardless of different locations and timezones. As to air pollution, we may live a eco-friendly life and use transport as less as possible but it is impossible to avoid using vehicles. Hopefully, telecommunication telecommunication can also allows some employees such as staff of information technology enterprise to work at home which reduces the usage of cars.

In summary, I would concede that the effect that the technologies imposed on our life is not flawless. Despite that, the convenience and benefits are more highlighted. Overall, I am convinced that modern technology is improving the quality of our life and makes our life better.
