5 Some people think that young people should go to university to further their education while others think that young people should be encouraged to work as mechanics or builders to serve society. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.


Each year, there are hundreds of thousands of youngsters graduate from high schools. But when it comes to the future plans, there are two different opinions. Some people believe that young people should further their education in university. While others argue that they should work immediately so that they can contribute to the development of the society.

It is understandable that some people think young people should go to university to further their education. The main reason for this is that they can learn more knowledge and skills, which enables them to be more competitive in future career. It is generally known that in this knowledge economy age, people with high qualification can earn more money than those without one. Surely, it is essential for teenagers to go to university for higher education. Apart from that, some people believe that high school graduates are not mature both physically and mentally, so working too early may do harm for their development.

But some people would disagree. It is may be true that higher education may bring good career. However, it seems that there are also enormous benefits of working. Few can deny that working for couple of years can greatly enrich young people’s social and professional experience, which are also important in job hunting and promotion. Besides, the high tuition fee of university may drive some families into poverty. However, going to working not only can alleviate the financial burden of the family but also make young people economic independence. More over, except for higher education people, our society also needs a large number of technicians such as mechanics or builders.

As far as I am concerned, I am in favor of the former viewpoint. Despite that there are undeniable advantages of going to work after graduate. I am deeply convinced that young people can benefit more from further education.
