It may have taken two years but The Whitehouse has finally sold.
Unfortunately for the vendors, the two-year wait forced the sale price down from their 2009 hopes of around $8 million.
The sellers, Peter and Sally Bell, paid $5.25 million in 2006 for The Whitehouse and gave it an extensive makeover in 2007.
The top two residential sales on the Island were the Pavilions Penthouse at almost $8 million in 2008 and the Spanish Villa, which sold for over $7 million in 2007.

Before the current sale, the home had been rented out for years and was recently available for more than $3000 per day - that's more than $22,000 per week.
The house itself is a large, modern luxury waterfront residence with gorgeous views of the Whitsunday Passage as well as all the features you would expect for a $6 million-plus island getaway set in large grounds.
The property "emanates absolute opulence and wealth, while maintaining majesty and dignity" according to the estate agents.

Agents also say that the property is quite possibly "located in the best position on the island".
It has been described as a "private resort" for good reasons. The house sits behind a gated entrance, with palm trees lining an elegant circular driveway that leads to the front.
At the centre of the driveway is a very tropical two-tiered water feature/fish pond and off to one side are three buggy garages. Buggies are the main form of transport on the mostly vehicle-free island.

The new owners will be able to enjoy the sorts of features you would expect in a great resort.
There are manicured gardens to stroll in, a tennis court for a bit of exercise, a pool for the odd lap and a spa for a good soak after all that strenuous activity. You could also lounge on the enormous entertaining deck and soak in some sun along with the sensational views.
Inside the two-level, six-bedroom home are spacious dining and entertaining areas that flow down to a sunken cocktail lounge looking over the water.
